Lennart Olson – En bild är en bild (An Image Is an Image)

On December 21, 2025, Lennart Olson would have turned 100 years old. Hallands Konstmuseum is marking this occasion with an extensive presentation of his works from the museum’s collection. The exhibition focuses on Lennart Olson as an artist, his sense of form, light, and shadow, and shows how these qualities characterize both his working methods and his compositions.
Lennart Olson (1925–2010), born in Gothenburg and later residing in Steninge, was a freelance photographer with both an artistic and documentary focus. As a member of the photography collective Tio fotografer (Ten Photographers), formed in 1958, he became a central figure in Swedish photography and also created some fifty television films. Olson is particularly known for his graphic photographs of bridges, but he also worked with portraits and reportage images. He is one of the few Swedish photographers represented in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
