The Hallandsgården Open-air Museum
The Hallandsgården Open-air Museum lies on Galberget, a hill in central Halmstad. Founded in 1925, it is a wonderful destination for anyone interested in experiencing life in days gone by. Visit Eldsberga schoolhouse, the Hörsåsstugan medieval cottage or the stables and discover first-hand what life was like in the past with the help of an audio guide or one of our knowledgeable tour guides. You’ll find a variety of cultivated plants, like Portland roses, herbs and hops growing all around the buildings. There’s also an outdoor café in summer, a popular playground and a small exhibition space.
Opening Hours
The area is open year round. The open-air museum is open every day June 6 through August 13 from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is free unless otherwise indicated. The programme of events is subject to change.
Hallandsgården Café
The café is operated by Ekoteket. Opening hours for the summer 2023 season will be published soon.
They offer ecological fare, often made with locally sourced ingredients. A fresh waffle hot off the grill is a favourite of many of the guests.
