Recognisable – Hallandsringen 1934-1948

Hallandsringen (The Hallandsringen group) was formed in Halland during the 1930s as an association of artists with a shared interest in naturalism, realism and classical forms of expression. The artists primarily joined forces in order to collaborate in practical ways around exhibitions, visibility and costs.
Artists associated with Hallandsringen often depicted Halland’s landscapes, urban environments, still lifes and scenes from everyday life, focusing on the familiar and recognisable rather than on abstract or avant-garde expression. The composition of the group changed over time, and this exhibition features works by twelve Hallandsringen artists, including Bernard Anderson, Ansgarius Börjesson, Arvid Carlson, Ingrid Segerlind-Lindblad and Erik Sköld.
