Unga slöjdares salong (Young craft exhibition)

In the exhibition Unga slöjdares salong (Young craft exhibition) Hallands Konstmuseum becomes an arena for the young and creative, up to 19 years old. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the creativity and aesthetic visions of a younger generation. In the exhibition their works encounter objects from Hallands Konstmuseum´s collection.

In the spring 2023, children and youngsters from the Swedish regions Halland, Blekinge, Skåne, Kalmar, Kronoberg and Jönköping, were invited to apply for the exhibition. Their work were then judged by a jury. It consisted of Sara Degerfält, home craft consultant in the Västra Götaland region, Oskar Gybäck, multi-disciplinary craftsman who took part in Region Halland´s project Experiment Väv (Experiment Weave), and Helena Hertov, curator at Rian designmuseum in Falkenberg.

According to the UN:s Child Convention, article 31, children have the right to fully participate in cultural and artistic life. With this exhibition we want to accommodate their expressions and creativity in an arena where there are mainly adults who are on display.
